Todos los modelos del Velar incorporan una transmisión automática de ocho velocidades y tracción total, pero estas características se combinan con uno de los tres motores.  La carrocería del Range Rover Velar está construida en un 81 % en aluminio de alta resistencia de la serie 6000. Gracias a ello, Land Rover ha podido reducir el espesor de las planchas de 1,5 a 1,1 milímetros, lo que conllevalleva reducir el peso con respecto a una carrocería hecha de acero sin comprometer la rigidez. El coeficiente aerodinámico del Velar es 0,32.

All Velar models feature an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, these features are combined with one of three engines.  The Range Rover Velar's body is 81 per cent high-strength 6000 series aluminium. This has enabled Land Rover to reduce the thickness of the sheet metal from 1.5 millimetres to 1.1 millimetres, reducing weight compared to a steel body without compromising rigidity. The Velar's aerodynamic coefficient is 0.32.
