I’m sadly selling my KLR after driving her from South Africa to Europe. The trip is coming to an end so it’s time to find her a new caring owner. These bikes are known for their reliability and “bulletproof” engine.
It’s the perfect bike for any adventurer looking to make the journey to South Africa, as it has a SA registration, so you’ll be able to sell the bike there easily without needing to pay the money to ship the bike back home. It also a fully mechanical bike, and thus significantly easier to fix along the way compared to BMWs, KTMs, etc.
That said, if you prefer you can also import the bike into the EU to register in your home country and I’d be willing to split the difference on the taxes required to do so.
The PROs:
-fully serviced every <10,000kms
-New battery 5,000kms ago
-chain and sprocket replaced ~8,000 KMs ago
-RotoPax 7L side-mounted gas tank
-Full crash bar system
-Pannier Racks
-Large skid plate
-New air filter ~3000kms ago
-Brand new carburetor ~3000kms ago (my previous mechanic dropped the last while cleaning and needed to order a new one)
-Adjustable Desert Fox windscreen
-USB charging port
-Metzeler tires with some decent life left
-Will come with tools, parts, Rockstraps, etc.
The odometer/speedometer is currently working, but to be honest it broke for a little bit and actually has an extra 7,000 KMs on it. So the bike will have about 67,000 KMs in total by the end of my trip. The current fix is a temporary solution and will require a new front wheel if you care enough to fix it, which will cost around 150€.
The front windshield is cracked, but can also be replaced with a better version easily and affordably.
Some decals are peeling that can also be replaced cheaply if you care, and there are some battle wound scrapes along the panels. Other than these things mentioned the bike is perfect.
All in all it’s an incredible bike and gave me no issues on my journey. The bike will take you as far as you want to go and hoping to sell it to someone looking to put that to the test.
Asking 2,950€ or best offer
Hoping to sell somewhere in the regions of Denmark, Germany, Netherlands or Belgium.
