Don’t see that often; Anthracite Metallic, Charcoal interior, only 144,403 km and in top condition!
Nowadays it’s almost like looking for a needle in a haystack when it comes to a classic Jaguar. At least, when you go for quality. And that is exactly what we are looking for, you and I.
Then, Ben sends me an email. Ben is the proud owner of a beautiful XK8, which he has owned for 16 years. Awesome! At the first meeting the enthusiasm immediately radiated; dozens of photos of the XK during various trips, the neat invoices arranged, even the MOT reports are available. That’s how I like to see it, of course. What I also like to see are the photos of the Jaguar when it was purchased, back in 2008. Ben bought his XK8 in Florida, at a BMW dealership. He arranged the transport to the Netherlands, after which the Jaguar was transported directly to known Jaguar specialist Jagpoint. The same specialist then provided maintenance for 16 years. No cuts were made, absolutely every care was taken in recent years.
Maintained by specialists and dealers to this day. Well, until May 17, 2024, the day of the last maintenance.
That maintenance is what counts. What is often overlooked is that the Jaguars and Daimlers from the 1990s have now become true classics. This means that you have to work extremely precisely when looking for a neat example. This also counts for us. The impressive appearance can hide a mountain of misery; rust and deferred maintenance will surprise you.
Then take XK from this story. The previous owner took good care of his XK, which reflected on all sides. No strange damage, no rust, no overdue maintenance. The time in dry and sun-drenched Florida has clearly done the XK some good; We have not been able to detect any trace of rust, unique!
Well, after purchasing the most beautiful job begins; perfecting the XK even further for the next enthusiast. The three window styles on the inside have been reupholstered, to name just one detail. The original wooden gear knob was renovated and looks like new again. The entire interior has been thoroughly cleaned and cared for. The body will be fully detailed in a few days. Necessary? No. good looking? Certainly!
Even the woodwork has been polished. A classic in this condition is worth it, and the enthusiast appreciates that!
Step into the Jag and you will enjoy the most beautiful dashboard from the 1990s. The interior is made of Charcoal leather. Of course you will find burl walnut wood in abundance, the gear knob and the steering wheel are also equipped with it. The seat, the steering wheel… as if time has stood still. It is clear; This is a well-preserved copy.
You also notice it in everything when you drive this Jaguar; the car is in top condition. It’s the little things that make this stand out. This way, the car steers very tightly, without any play in the parts of the chassis. The gearbox changes gears smoothly and almost imperceptibly and the engine runs nicely, as it should.
Even the original cover for the convertible top is present, of course also in Charcoal. A wind stopper is supplied with the car, which is not visible in the photos.
Aren’t there any negatives, you ask? I honestly can’t think of any. Just to mention something; the front tires are fairly recent and from the Michelin brand, the rear tires are a bit older and from the Bridgestone brand. Not a problem, but worth mentioning. That’s all? Yes.. Compare that to the average offer and you will be amazed.
The key set consists of 2 keys with remote control. The complete service folder, maintenance invoices and history are present with the Jaguar.
This beautiful XK is currently my own daily car, a wonderful grand tourer. In the meantime, the XK is being made more and more to my liking; For example, I recently adjusted the scale of the counter unit; You now read this in kilometers instead of miles, isn’t that nice?
There is still a lot to say about this Jaguar, but you will of course only get a good impression when you view and drive the car. You are very welcome in Uden, the coffee is ready.
