The Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk1
Aston Martin’s engineers accomplished a feat of engineering prowess, altering the chassis and reshaping the very essence of this classic to create a masterpiece that transcends time. The transformation of the DB2/4’s rear chassis and the reduction of the fuel tank capacity might seem like small changes, but they yielded monumental results. Aston’s engineers liberated just enough space to introduce two child-sized occasional rear seats, breathing new life into the classic sports saloon. The innovation didn’t stop there. By folding down the rear seat backs, a cavernous load-carrying platform emerged, doubling the luggage capacity. The revolutionary opening rear door concept transformed the DB2/4 into a trailblazing precursor to the modern ‘hatchback.’
The original left-hand drive DB2/4 Mk1 offered here was supplied new in March 1954 to Mr. W. Bosshard-Hoegger in Zurich, Switzerland, as confirmed by the copy guarantee form on file. Also on file are copies of an old Swiss Carte Grise and numerous invoices (many from renowned marque specialists Aston Service Dorset) dating from the 1990s and early 2000s together with photographs of the car undergoing a bare-metal restoration. The previous owner purchased the DB2/4 from Aaldering Classic & Sportscars Brummen in 2007, since when it has been kept in dry storage (copy invoice on file). Our Workshop team at Roadsight have fully inspected this automobile and is ready to get out on the road.
